The Renault-Nissan alliance plans to build four factories in Europe that will produce lithium-ion batteries. The alliance has made no secret of its goal to become the leader of the future EV automotive sector. No news has been released on which cities these four factories will be in. Autonews quotes Colin Dodge, Nissan's executive vice president for the Africa, Middle East, India and Europe region, as having said, In Europe, we haven't made the final decisions, but we will soon.Dodge said that Nissan prefers the production of its 250 kg lithium-ion battery packs near assembly sites in the UK and Spain. It's apparent that Renault will push for one factory in France. In light of their projected 2011 EV assault, Nissan will launch the first EV in Portugal, Denmark, Israel, the United States and Japan, while Renault will bring its own version the same year.
