Renault-Nissan alliance to begin testing 100 EVs in the Paris region in 2010
A large-scale electric vehicle test will be launched in September 2010 in the Paris region, as announced by the Renault-Nissan Alliance and EDF. The agreement, signed on Oct. 9, 2008, was entered by Pierre Gadonneix, CEO of EDF, and Carlos Ghosn, CEO of Renault and Nissan. Under the terms of the agreement, the two partners will test the development of electric mobility for the first time in France during trials in the Paris region.
The one-year trial begins in September 2010 and is to be participated by local government employees, consumers and professionals. A total of 100 electric Renault-Nissan Alliance passenger cars and light commercial vehicles will be used for the test.Continued after the jump!
These participants will be able to use a charging infrastructure at home, at the workplace, in car parks and on the public highway. Making this trial possible is a technical and financial partnership between all the public and private parties involved. The Renault-Nissan Alliance and EDF will use the full-scale trial to test the performance of their future electric vehicles, which will be identical to the series-produced models set for launch in 2011. The Paris region and Yvelines local authorities support this joint initiative by the Renault-Nissan Alliance and EDF.
The initiative was devised in cooperation with the “Etablissement Public d’Aménagement du Mantois Seine-Aval” (EPAMSA) local planning body. The project, called SAVE (Seine Aval Véhicules Electriques), involves a number of private partners. As part of the invitation for expressions of interest announced on June 26, 2009, a file has been submitted to the French Energy Management Agency (ADEME). Only after the financing for its implementation is approved will the project be launched.
