Renault reveals entry-level Megane in the U.K.

A new entry-level Megane was released by Renault and it comes with a basic price tag 1500 lower than the Ford Focus. The latest Renault Megane Extreme is offered with an 85bhp 1.5-liter turbodiesel unit for 14,950, or with a 99bhp 1.6-liter gasoline powerplant for 13,250. The two latest Megane Extremes is priced 900 lesser than the next cheapest Megane version, while a comparable VWGolf, the 101bhp 1.6 S, costs 15,075, a price 1800 more than the gasoline-powered Megane Extreme.
Included as standard equipment are ESP, a CD/MP3 player and air-conditioning, and alloy wheels. Front fog lights are not part of standard equipment. The Renault Megane Extreme can be ordered beginning May, and will hit showrooms beginning June 2009.
