Renault's production of the Sandero hatchback in Russia has recently started. Operations will be handled by Avtoframos, a joint venture established by Renault with the Moscow government. It's believed that production of the Sandero, the replacement to the Logan sedan in the local market, will reach its maximum capacity in February next year. The first units are expected to be delivered in the next few months.

Various Russian media reports say that Renault invested a total of $150 million in the local plants, which are slated to build 160,000 cars annually. Two gasoline engine options, 1.4- and 1.6-liter four-cylinder, will be offered for the Russian-bound sandero range. A five-speed manual gearbox is standard. For the moment, a diesel variant will not be offered as the Russian market still relies on petrol units. Russian pricing will start at $10,100, while the top-of-the-range Sandero will be priced at around $13,700. Renault is also said to be considering Russian production of Dacia's recently-revealed SUV Duster. There are talks that this could be realized in 2011.
