There’s no final decision yet but Renault is in talks with another producer about a joint venture deal to build a modern reinterpretation of the Alpine A110. Renault chief Carlos Tavares said that the company is considering plans to revive the Alpine brand later this year. At the Goodwood Festival of Speed, the Alpine A110-50 Concept was entered. Tavares told reporters that if this car is approved, it would be priced at about €56,000. Tavares declined to identify the manufacturer he had entered talks with. However, there are rumors that the deal will be spin-off of the current relationship between Renault, Nissan and Mercedes-Benz. Tavares said that the development costs would have to be shared if they were to plan a “great car.” He said that it’s too early to say if the talks would be successful. In his estimate, the car would start production in three to five years if it finds the right partner now.
