Renaultsport Twingo R2L - entry-level rally car makes its debut

Due to a responsive balanced chassis and bump/rebound adjustable shock absorbers, the little rally car is offering different setups for optimal driving performance. Under the Twingo R2 bonnet, we see a specifically-prepared 4-cylinder 1.6-litre 16V engine, which produces 160hp (118kW) at 7,250rpm an extra 27hp compared to the production engine. The engine is connected to a five-speed sequential gearbox and steering column mounted shift lever, allowing the car to produce a maximum torque of 160Nm at 5,500rpm, giving it a wide power band.
From the beginning of this project, it has become clear that Renault Sport Technologies has taken the needs of amateur drivers into account. Renault seeks to make the small rally car easy-to-drive and affordable. Renault Twingo Renaultsport R2 comes in the form of a motorsport package including all the required parts. Customers who purchase the kit will be able to purchase a Twingo Renaultsport 133 at a special price. This solution allows customers to obtain a complete, fully-registered production car into which the kit is built. Starting early April 2010, the R2 package will be available at the market, at the price of 27,990€ without VAT.
