Report: 193 returned cars in GM’s 60-day money-back guarantee promotion

2010 Corvette ZR1General Motors Co.’s 60-day money-back guarantee promotion has had 193 people out of 222,000 return their cars since it started in September. Recently, GM decided to extend the program until Jan. 4. Only 653 customers opted for the 60-day return guarantee instead of taking a $500 discount on a new vehicle. Vice President of Global Product Engineering Mark Reuss said that in several cases, returning customers traded up to another GM vehicle that has more features than what they originally purchased. Continued after the jump!

Those who made the returns have gotten personal calls from GM executives asking for feedback.

Reuss also said that these calls to unsatisfied customers have brought in the “best unfiltered consumer feedback” the company has ever had.

Reuss came up with the idea to get feedback from customers from the ads that have GM’s new Chairman Ed Whitacre announcing the program.

GM intended for the program to show consumers that their perceptions of GM’s lackluster quality are outdated.
