Report: Bmw’s Project I will build only premium vehicles

After making available its official strategy in September 2007, media outlets all over the planet have conjectured about BMW's launching of its own new brand or purchasing one to assist in its expansion. However, BMW started a new eco think-tank called Project i whose function is to develop solutions for vehicles intended for congested city driving. It will run autonomously from BMW and has received a deadline until the middle of the next decade to come up with a concrete solution for a range of city vehicles.
The connotation of an urbanized public vehicle has lead to hypotheses that the cars Project i will produce are in the low-end and cheap category. But Project i officials say that nothing could be further from the truth since they are actually planning to build premium vehicles and not a competition for cars like the Tata Nano. The Mini-E, which was recently launched, is the first development of Project i and it will be used to gather feedback concerning the wants and needs of urban customers.
The ultimate production car will come with either a three- or four-wheel configuration and they will be built in close proximity to the markets where they are planned to be sold. It has not yet been revealed whether they will come with the BMW logo or with a totally new one. The first Project i production car will be here around 2015.
