Report: Europeans will be able to buy, not lease, the Lexus LFA

Lexus LFA

If you're in North America and you've been meaning to buy a Lexus LFA, then you're out of luck. The vehicle will only be available on a lease-only basis in North America while European customers will only be able to buy the cars. The news of the leasing policy reached stunned potential buyers. The carmaker asserted that it sought to maintain ownership of the 150 units that will be delivered to the US and Canada

because it wanted to prevent speculative purchasing and a second-hand resale of the vehicle at bloated prices. The company gave no statement on why it's taking a different direction in Europe and allowing car ownership in the continent. Lexus' new 4.8-liter V10 supercar can go from zero to 100 km/h in 3.7 seconds and has a top speed of 325 km/h (202 mph). If you're in London, you can check out the display at the Lexus Park Lane showroom in Mayfair. Orders for the Lexus LFA will be taken starting in spring 2010 while European delivery will take place between 2011 and 2013.
