Report: GMC Sierra HD Concept headed to Detroit Auto Show in January

GMC is looking at both extremes when it comes to sizes. Aside from the Granite Compact Pickup concept unveiled recently, sources say that GMC will also showcase a preview of the next-generation GMC Sierra Heavy Duty at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit next January. An all-new chassis and an updated Duramax diesel V-8 powertrain are featured on the 2011 GMC Sierra HD and its twin, the Chevy Silverado HD. There are critics who observed that the carryover sheetmetal and interior in the truck have aged fast while the HD pickups of Ram and Ford have been upgraded when it comes to the interior and the exterior. The GMC Sierra HD concept is an example of how GM wants to evolve the Sierra so it is able to match its high-performance powertrain and frame. [via pickuptrucks]
