Report: Spyker CEO Victor Muller might be Saab’s savior

The fate of Saab can be said to rely on how good an offer Spyker has come up with. And a lot of that depends on Spyker CEO Victor Muller who is famous for his ambition, passion, creativity, and a relentless drive to achieve his goals. These qualities could just be what Saab requires to survive and prosper. Muller is a 50-year-old Dutch businessman who relaunched Spyker as a small boutique sports car builder in 1999. Muller has made a firm effort to buy Saab from a reluctant General Motors.
Last December 18, GM rejected Spyker's first offer but only two days later, Muller submitted a renewed bid. Many wait for GM's announcement on Jan. 7 on its decision. GM will either sell Saab to Spyker or it will shut down the brand.
A person familiar with the situation said earlier this week that Spyker is the sole buyer being considered. Spyker sought to line up funding that will satisfy GM. The source further said that financing has been a major hurdle in the deal. Spyker's proposal had included a Russian partner that GM rejected and so Spyker had to arrange financing that didn't include that partner. [via autonews]
