Toyota FT-86

According to the latest reports, it appears that the upcoming Toyota FT-86 will be badged as a Scion in the United States. Still, this is good news as Scion has a fixed pricing structure at all dealerships, while the Toyota badge could make the car more expensive. Same sources confirmed the fact that the upcoming production version car will receive a 2.5-liter engine. As you may know already, the FT-86 Concept was unveiled carrying a 2.0-liter engine mated to a six-speed manual gearbox. Although no numbers were released, the new car is expected to get the same amount of power as its sister model from Subaru, which will deliver an impressive 260 hp.

The 2.0-liter engine found on the concept version delivered around 200 hp. Regarding the upcoming car, Toyota said that the bodywork, which measures 4,160mm long overall, is designed to be as compact as possible. So, expect a really fast car which would be a perfect addition to a city.

Inside, the car will feature a highly functional cockpit that's designed to be ergonomically efficient. Sources confirm the fact that the official debut of the car will be made next April, at the 2011 New York Auto Show. Still, the name is undecided, but it’s likely to see the car badged as Scion FR-S.
