Rimac to launch Concept_One electric hyper car at Salon Privé

Rimac Concept_One

Rimac Automobili will be unveiling its Rimac Concept_One electric hyper car at this year’s Salon Privé, the most prestigious Supercar Event and Chubb Insurance Concours d'Elégance in the United Kingdom scheduled on September 5-7, 2012, at London’s Syon Park. Rimac will only produce 88 examples of the Rimac Concept_One, each costing around $1 million. The Rimac Concept_One is made possible by a team that includes designers who used to work for Italian design house Pininfarina as well as top Bulgarian leatherworkers from Vilner.

The Rimac Concept_One electric hyper car could produce up to 1,088 bhp, thanks to its 92-kWh battery that powers four sets of electric motors placed at each wheel. Employing the All-Wheel Torque Vectoring (AWTV) system, all four wheels could work independently and could accelerate and decelerate hundreds of times per second. This amount of dynamic power allows the Rimac Concept_One to accelerate from zero to 60 mph in just 2.8 seconds and reach a top speed of 190 mph. Having a kerb weight of 1850 kg, the Rimac Concept_One has a range of 373 miles

.24-year-old Croatian Rimac Automobili CEO, Mate Rimac, said: ‘We started with a blank sheet of paper. The idea was to create an exceptional supercar with a new propulsion concept. What we have here is a fully-fledged hypercar that is as powerful as a Bugatti, as stylish as a Ferrari, and as luxurious as a Mercedes, all while managing to forsake even the tiniest sip of gasoline.’
