Robby Gordon Off-Road Dakar Hummer revealed
No off-road race is too grueling for HUMMER and Robby Gordon Off-road. They have teamed up one more time to take on the 2010 Dakar Rally, which is known for its brutal terrain and extreme environmental conditions. Team HUMMER will have Gordon lead it from behind the wheel of his HUMMER H3 race truck.
Gordon is renowned for being the first American to win a stage at Dakar and has, since then, been a formidable Dakar challenger. Gordon had earlier on been actively participating and had even built his Dakar HUMMER for the 2006 Rally. In 2007, Gordon finished first in the OP class and 8th overall. 2008 was significant since that was when Gordon’s elite off-road team entered two Robby Gordon Off-Road HUMMERS in the Central Europe Rally. Continued after the jump!
In that race, Gordon triumphed in two stages and finished tenth overall. The second HUMMER piloted by BJ Baldwin finished seventh overall. The 2009 Dakar Rally had Gordon finishing in third place overall, a remarkable feat in this highly competitive rally race. Gordon’s H3 consists of a custom HUMMER body coupled with a specially developed chassis, which features a suspension that was that he designed along with his Off-Road team.
The H3 is a lot similar to Trophy Trucks raced in the Baja 1000 due to its tube-chassis form. What makes the H3 different is a fully enclosed air-conditioned cockpit, including windshield and side windows. Powering the vehicle is a production-based General Motors V8 engine.
