Rober Kubica will miss the start of 2012 F1 season

Robert Kubica

After having been seriously injured in a rallying accident, Robert Kubica has begun an intensive training program but he said that it’s still too early to commit to participating in the 2012 championship. He told Lotus Renault GP that his progress is impressive and that he can independently walk and move his hand and elbow but he would require more time to return to full fitness.

Lotus Renault GP said that it is committed to aiding Kubica as much as it can in his recovery process. A test car is ready and waiting for Kubica.

Lotus has also put a dedicated crew on stand-by as well. Kubica will continue to be a member of the LRGP family next year and he is already in talks to renew the contract for the next season. Lotus Renault GP said that it is saddened by the news but it will begin to review its options and will consider the most appropriate candidate to drive from the first 2012 winter testing session.
