Rolls-Royce expects to increase sales threefold in Asia this year
Rolls-Royce has a plan for its sales in Asia to increase threefold. To achieve this, the luxury carmaker is banking on a new model aimed at extremely wealthy clients who want to do their own driving instead of hiring a chauffeur.
Priced at $998,000 Singapore dollars ($715,000), the new Ghost sedan has already attracted a lot of attention. In fact, the company has received 250 orders in Asia, according to Asia Pacific Regional Director, Colin Kelly. In an interview with Reuters, Kelly said that the Ghost is targeting owner-drivers. This is in contrast to the firm’s flagship Phantom model, which was designed to be chauffeur-driven. For now, the Ghost is available only as a four-door sedan. Although Kelly said that parent BMW AG may expand the range, which could include having an extended-wheelbase version, a coupe and drophead coupe.
