Rolls-Royce Motor Cars has appointed Henrik Wilhelmsmeyer to be its Director for Mainland China starting July 1, 2012. The relatively new position mirrors China’s growing importance to the super luxury carmaker. Wilhelmsmeyer currently works as BMW’s Head of the China South Region and used to be Head of Dealer Development. Paul Harris, meanwhile, will remain as Regional Director for the Asia Pacific Region for Rolls-Royce, overseeing operations for Asia Pacific markets, excluding Mainland China. He will be in charge of overseeing growth for Rolls-Royce in areas like Hong Kong and Taiwan. Rolls-Royce’s General Manager - Greater China, Jenny Zheng, will be leaving the company to pursue other interests. According to Jolyon Nash, Director for Sales and Marketing, Wilhelmsmeyer’s broad experience and strong track record make him suited to further develop Rolls-Royce’s strong position in China. He also expressed gratitude to Zheng for her contribution to the company for the past seven years. Nash likewise thanked and commended Harris and his team for their hard work and commitment, to which he attributed the company’s success in China over the last two years. In 2011, China surpassed the United States as the leading sales market for Rolls-Royce Motor Cars. The company’s best-selling dealership was also located in the region.
