Rolls-Royce Motor Cars posted worldwide sales of 3,538 units in 2011, a 31% increase from the 2,711 cars sold in 2010. The 2011 figure is the company's best sales results ever in its 107 years in business. The previous record was in 1978 during the Silver Shadow II era with 3,347 vehicles sold. The automaker also achieved strong sales growth with notable results seen in Asia Pacific (up 47%), the Middle East (up 23%) and North America (up 17%).
The United States and China were the most significant individual markets for the company. Moreover, the United Kingdom operations reported a 30% growth in the year. Meanwhile in Continental Europe, Russia and Germany were the largest growth markets with each more than doubling its 2010 sales figure. The portfolio of the company includes the pinnacle Phantom family products, which are the Phantom, Phantom Drophead Coupé, Phantom Coupé and Phantom Extended Wheelbase. Its portfolio also includes the latest Ghost range. The demand for all automobile versions was strong, especially with the interest in Ghost launching to plenty of recognition in April, which contributed to the biggest share of the 2011 growth.
“We had an outstanding year in 2011 and we should take a moment to reflect on this Great British success story,” said Torsten Müller-Ötvös, Chief Executive Officer, Rolls-Royce Motor Cars. “Our business is in excellent shape. We are developing our dealer network, moving into new markets like South America, expanding our manufacturing operation in West Sussex to meet global demand and have plans to develop our product range. At the core of this extraordinary success is a dedicated, committed and, above all, passionate workforce.”
