For the first half of 2011, Rolls-Royce Motor Cars achieved record sales, with a 64% increase worldwide compared to the year-ago period. For the first six months of the year, Rolls-Royce delivered 1592 luxury cars – its best start to a year since the relaunch of the automaker in 2003. Torsten Muller-Otvos, Chief Executive Officer for Rolls-Royce Motor Cars, said that the first half of the year has been “excellent” and proves that customers remain confident in its products.
In the first half of the year, Rolls-Royce celebrated the centenary of the Spirit of Ecstasy. To demonstrate how innovative it has become, Rolls-Royce also showed off the Phantom Experimental Electric, 102EX. On the other hand, Bentley had a less impressive start to the year, partly due to the lowered demand in Europe.
It appears like luxury brands rely heavily on Europe. In fact, Rolls Royce had an outstanding performance in Germany, where its sales rose by 60% compared to the previous year. Sales growth was observed in all the areas. In particular, sales in Asia Pacific grew by more than 170%. Sales in the Middle East and the U.S. each grew by more than 40%.
