The tuning experts at Roush have unveiled the Stake 3 kit, or the RS3 package, for the 2012 Ford Mustang. It has only been two months ago that the Stage 1 and Stage 2 kits were introduced but with the Stage 3, tuning has been brought to an extreme level. The Stage 3 kit was specifically made for the 5.0-liter V8, which has now been fitted with an R2300 ‘ROUSHcharger’ supercharger that pumps up to 12 psi of boost.
The combination of this charger with a new induction system, high-flow exhaust and modified ECU gives a power boost of 540hp and 465 pound-feet (630 Nm) of torque. The package also includes an awesome graphics and appearance package. With the front fascia blacked-out, the RS3 is shown in a form that could be described as classic but intimidating. But what’s at the rear decklid blackout is what makes this package a true standout – the imprinted signature of motorsports legend Jack Roush.
Another customization treat from Roush is the availability of up to 288 color and pinstriping combinations, which can all be adjusted through a recently launched online configurator. Additional modifications include a set of 20-inch wheels, uprated brakes, Cooper RS3 tires, and a full Roush suspension kit that adds upgraded struts, shocks and springs. Roush offers these modifications with a three year/36,000 mile powertrain warranty.
