Roush/Superformance Special Edition MKIII-R revealed

The Roush/Superformance Special Edition MKIII-R is what you get when you take the most coveted 1965 licensed reproduction Cobra replica and squeeze in an engine made by a company that has far more Ford wins compared to other manufacturers.

The MKIII-R was originally built to represent the fundamentals of what Roush Performance Engines and Superformance LLC have to offer. The initial plan was to build a one off display car, but the high level of interest afforded the project quickly altered everybodyâ€™s mind and the vehicle was quickly scheduled for manufacture. The Special Edition car debuted at the Las Vegas Nevada 2007 SEMA show. The MKIII-R demonstrated to the public what it has always wished to witness â€“ the cooperation of two industry leaders to produce the best of both realms, a striking double diamond with the roar of a powerful engine under the hood. The Roush parts will be offered as an upgrade package that will be sold independently from the standard MKIII-R. The inside highlights a set of Roush embellished leather seats, special gauges, billet short-throw shifter, Roush embellished floor carpet, two-way gauge pad and a sequential plaque. Buyers have a choice of different Roush crate motors including the 427 IR V8 that is tested at 576hp and featuring a 2-year/24,000 mile warranty.

Hillbank Motor Corporation initiated the move and began collecting high-performance industry leaders for this fresh project. Once the venture became clear, Hillbank contacted Exotic to expertly pull together the dream car.

MKIII-R was completely built by Hi-Tech Automotive RSA, South Africa except for the engine and transmission, and shipped to Hillbank Motor Corporation. After just over a month it finally arrived at Hillbank and was immediately sent to Exotic for the modification process.

The crew of Exotic initially got rid of the factory chrome trim pieces as well as the windshield, hood and trunk latches, headlight rings, quick jacks, and everything down to the Tonneau cover rivets and roll bar and brought them out to be painted in a black chrome finish. With the assistance of the sponsors, such as Roush, GTP, American Racing, Tremec, Sube Sport, Michelin USA, Snake Power Performance, and Wilwood Engineering, this car went quickly to its fresh rebirth.
