	German tuner Atelier Valdeig and Russian bespoke builder Armortech-Motors Group have collaborated to create an ultra-luxury sports utility vehicle concept based on the platform that underpins the Audi Q7, the VW Touareg, and the Porsche Cayenne. The collaboration has named the concept Tresor, a word which means &ldquo;treasure&rdquo; in French and &ldquo;safe&rdquo; in German. The name seems to perfectly fit the project, which aims to build an SUV that offers high standards of both luxury and safety.&nbsp;Armortech&rsquo;s engineering partners, which have been producing prototypes and small-scale series for leading sports and luxury car makers in Europe, have been tasked to develop and manufacture the body and the interior of the Tresor.&nbsp; The Tresors will also be powered by the latest engines that will fit the platform on which the SUV will be built. Included in the engines being considered is the Audi&#39;s V12 TDI engine that produces 500 hp and 1,000 Nm of torque. Atelier Valdeig and Armortech are also set to offer petrol engines and upgrades for the Tresor.&nbsp;The Atelier Valdeig-Armortech collaboration concept will carry a design that incorporates traditional British styles and sportiness, with every detail of the Tresor underscoring superiority. The interior of the SUV concept also gets luxurious treatment, with the seats and dashboard sourced from a distinguished English luxury car maker. Aside from the luxurious seats and dashboard, the Tresor will be loaded with customized interior details, as well as the latest high-end entertainment system.&nbsp;The Tresor is available in different wheelbases, partition wall and armoring. Interested buyers could also order the Tresor&rsquo;s brawny wide body variant.</p>

The 2 Series is its most recent range to come out. BMW had first wanted the 3 Series coupe to branch out into the new 4 Series badge for 2013 in order to make the entry-level luxury car less puzzling. BMW has done the same thing with the 1 Series convertible, which CAR says will be named a 2 Series in the next generations. The revisions to the 2 Series would be just on the appearance so it&rsquo;s expected that the same engines and underpinnings from the 1 Series would make it to the 2 Series. BMW is doing this to shift its two-door cars farther up the market to achieve a larger price premium. It&rsquo;s forecasted that by 2014, BMW will offer a six-speed manual or eight-speed automatic.</p>

Its seven new car names will enter the very competitive market in this region as part of a plan to be the biggest luxury automaker in the world. The seven names include Q6, Q8, R6, S2, S9, RS1 and RS8. These cars, just like the cars such as the Q6, have been known to exist but these are still in their testing stages for now, while others like the S9 are not even being considered yet. It&rsquo;s likely that the R6, a variant of Audi&rsquo;s mid-engine super car the R8, will likely ride on a smaller platform and would be cheaper too. Q6 and Q8 are the brand&rsquo;s newest, with Q6 being launched to go up against BMW&rsquo;s X6 crossover. The Q8 is being positioned as the biggest, most luxurious SUV in Audi&rsquo;s lineup. The names S2 and S9 imply that the brand will present two more cars into the lineup, to be named A2 and A9. The S2 and S9 will be the sports performance version of these cars. It was also rumoured that there would be a model positioned higher than the current flagship A8. The use of the S2 name implies a vehicle that&rsquo;s exciting and offers an impressive performance. Recently, the small hot hatch, the RS1, was spotted. It&rsquo;s possible that it won&rsquo;t have a traditional non-performance version. 	The Artemis is powered by a 4.8-litre twin-turbo V8 engine the offers over 600bhp (441kW) of output and 750Nm (553 lb ft) of torque, allowing the super-SUV to accelerate from zero to 100 km/h in just 4.5 secs and to reach a maximum speed of over 290kph.&nbsp;All five buyers of the Artemis are residents in China, where customers are demanding luxury vehicles that offer rear passenger space, personalization and performance -- all of which are typical in a luxury SUV like the Artemis.&nbsp;</p>

	However, those who have implied their interest in ordering the Artemis super-SUV are customers based in the United States, Australia, Spain and Italy. Eterniti aims to sell 30 to 40 Artemis this year, and with the five orders and a handful of interested buyers, the company is likely to reach its goal. Eterniti will make the first deliveries of the SUV this autumn.&nbsp;Eterniti&rsquo;s global sales director Marcus Kenny is all pleased with the results, especially that the company only showed running prototypes in the Auto China Show.</p>

	The fate of <a href="http://www.4wheelsnews.com/category/lotus/" target="_self">Lotus</a> is unclear as it&rsquo;s not known yet what Proton&rsquo;s new owners DRB-HICOM are planning. The possibilities include selling Lotus, modifying its management plans, or simply not changing anything about Lotus. According to an Autocar report, a sale isn&rsquo;t being considered now. At Lotus headquarters last week, Dato&rsquo; Sri Haji Mohd Khamil Bin Jamil, managing director of DRB-HICOM, paid a visit. He told Lotus management and staff that its priority wasn&rsquo;t to sell the company but then, he said that he won&rsquo;t say &ldquo;never&rdquo; to a sale. He divulged that DRB-HICOM was presently creating a plan for Lotus, and that it may take months before a decision could be made.</p>

	This is due to the complexity of the situation. Jamil said that for now, DRB-HICOM will continue to give financial support to Lotus. Ever since the Malaysian government chose to divest itself of its stake in Proton and sold those shares to DRB-HICOM, the British company has been on shaky ground. While the shares were being moved, Lotus implemented a development freeze for 60 days. This had ended just recently.</p>
<p>
	Since then, Lotus has returned to producing the Elise, Exige, and Evora sports cars (the Evora is the only one still available in the U.S.). Lotus has also been working on special edition models for the Goodwood Festival of Speed this June, and is now developing a new V-8 engine and automated manual transmission that will be fitted on the future Esprit supercar. While this is good news for the company, it was dealt with a painful blow when it posted an $89.9 million loss in the first quarter, nearly double the $48.9 million loss reported for the same period in 2011. Nevertheless, Automotive News reveals that Tesla expects its total revenue for this year to be at least $560 million. It had initially forecasted a revenue of $550 million. However, it raised its expectations because of the early launch of the Model S. CEO Elon Musk is hopeful that Tesla will make profits in 2013, anticipating a 25% gross margin. Tesla is hoping that the Model S will arrive sooner.</p>

	The output for the Tesla Roadster was cut last year and according to The Detroit News, just about 200 Tesla Roadsters remain in Asian and European showrooms. Furthermore, Tesla predicts that it soon spend the entire $465 million loan it got from the Department of Energy. Even with Tesla&rsquo;s shortage of vehicles for test-drives, it said that there&rsquo;s plenty of interest in the Model S. There has been a minimum of 10,000 pre-order requests for the upcoming EV, which will be produced in Northern California at Tesla&rsquo;s assembly plant. The Tesla Roadster had a very expensive six-tag price that almost got to 7,000.000.</p>

	Meanwhile, the Model S is much more affordable with a base price of $49,000 following tax credits. It will be available with three battery options that range from 160 to 300 miles per charge. The Model S would be capable of recharging its battery to 80% capacity when plugged into a fast charger. Its other standout features include its rear-facing, third-row seats (expanding passenger capacity to seven) and its 17-inch, touchscreen infotainment display. Tesla expects to sell 5,000 units by the end of 2012. It also aims to make 20,000 units annually as soon as its plant operates at full speed. The Model S can start selling the Model S after it passes the needed cash tests.</p>

It&rsquo;s superior to the W-12-powerd Conti, which has ratings of 12/19 mpg city/highway. This makes it comparable to the four-wheel drive Cadillac Escalade SUV with ratings of 13/18 mpg city/highway. The fuel efficiency of the Conti V-8 is more notable considering that it weighs 5059 pounds, nearly 300 pounds heavier than the 500-hp Porsche Cayenne Turbo, which has a rating of 15/22 mpg city/highway.</p>

	When compared to its peers, the V-8-powered Continental GT offers a higher fuel economy than the Aston Martin Vantage V-8 (14/21) and it is better than the Jaguar XKR-S on the highway by two miles (with a rating of 15/22). It&rsquo;s comparable with 2013 Mercedes-Benz SL550 (16/24), which weighs 1109 pounds less. Audi had co-developed the more efficient 4.0-liter twin-turbo V-8. This is actually similar to the engine expected to be used on the 2013 Audi S8 sedan.</p>
<p>
	The features that improve its fuel economy are direct injection, cylinder deactivation, and a new eight-speed automatic that distributes power to its four wheels. In addition, it&rsquo;s very quick and is capable of accelerating from zero to 60 mph in 4.8 seconds, only two tenths of a second behind the W-12. The question now is whether its fuel economy would be convincing enough to turn away consumers from the Conti W-12. The V-8 is about 55 pounds lighter and is likely to be priced 10% less. Reuters said that the report has been confirmed by a GM spokesman. GM makes this move just a few days before the scheduled initial public offering of Facebook on Friday that&rsquo;s likely to value the company at almost $100 billion. However, the free Facebook pages will still be used by GM for its marketing. GM marketing chief Joel Ewanick said that GM is re-evaluating its advertising on Facebook even if the content is &ldquo;effective and important," according to The Wall Street Journal&rsquo;s report. All aspects of Facebook&rsquo;s marketing cost around $40 million to maintain. Of this figure, about $10 million are paid ads on Facebook. The Journal said that GM started to reassess advertising on Facebook early this year. A meeting recently took place between Ewanick and other members of GM&#39;s marketing team but GM wasn&rsquo;t convinced to continue with the ads. Advertising Age, an affiliate of Automotive News, revealed that GM used up about $2.8 billion in U.S. advertising while it spends $3.9 billion globally. This means that it is the fourth highest spender for global ads in 2010, behind Procter &amp; Gamble Co., Unilever and L&rsquo; Or&eacute;al. The data for 2011 aren&rsquo;t available yet.</p>

	Mark Terry, who is managing director at Chevrolet UK, commented that this challenge is a "great opportunity" for the local rugby clubs to "get themselves in the news" during the close season as well as to "keep their competitive spirit going" through the summer. He added that this is also a "great way" to show the "incredibly flexible" interior space of the Aveo, but he cautioned that driving with a full rugby team in the vehicle is not recommended.</p>

	He further commented that the Aveo is a "much more aggressive and masculine looking car" compared to many of its competitors. This feature will give the vehicle an "added appeal" to younger male customers and more traditional supermini buyers, Terry added.&nbsp;The first team to tackle the challenge was Shelford Rugby club, which is based in Cambridge. They used their ruck and scrum tactics with 11 of the first 15 able to get into the Aveo, which was supplied by Cambridge Chevrolet. Participating teams will become eligible when all body parts are inside the vehicle, and tailgate and all doors are shut.</p>

Button&rsquo;s visit is scheduled to be at the DTM race on May 20, where he will first meet fellow team Vodafone McLaren Mercedes member Gary Paffett, the current DTM championship leader with his THOMAS SABO Mercedes AMG C-Coup&eacute;.&nbsp;Paffett, who won the first race of the DTM season, will then show him around the new DTM Mercedes AMG C-Coup&eacute;, and walk him through the differences of the DTM car and an F1 vehicle. After familiarizing with the controls of the new DTM Mercedes AMG C-Coup&eacute;, Button will then serve as &ldquo;race taxi&rdquo; driver, giving Paffett a ride around the Brands Hatch circuit.
