Long wheelbase cars are becoming so popular in China that car manufacturers are scrambling to meet the demand. Taxi fleets in Shanghai are currently run with Volkswagen’s extended wheelbase car Santana, which looks like a 1980s Quantum with longer rear doors. Following the trend is Audi with its A6 long-wheelbase variant and Rolls-Royce with its Ghost EWB. Alois Ruf, meanwhile, created a customized long-wheelbase version of the Porsche Panamera, the RUF Panamera XL. The Ruf XL’s wheelbase is around 15.7 inches longer than a typical Panamera.
