Rumor: Ferrari hybrid concept to debut at the LA Auto Show

It has been revealed by Ferrari that it is moving toward the direction of a hybrid concept in its powertrain development. The carmaker is looking at a trio of solutions besides those that are currently offered by the V8 and V12 lineup in order for them to pass rigid European emissions standard by 2014. Ferrari is looking at the possibility of turbocharging, although it insists that the powerplants will still have the high-revving Ferrari characteristic.
Another direction Ferrari is exploring is biofuel, a popular topic among politician in Europe.
The carmaker pointed to the ECU in the California, which can adapt to ethanol, demonstrating the company's expertise in the field. Furthermore, Ferrari hinted at a hybrid concept that will be introduced soon, possibly in December at the LA Auto Show.
