Rumor: Ferrari might consider a four-door coupe

Although it appears to be just a beautiful dream it seems that Ferrari might consider building a four-door coupe, encouraged by the Porsche Panamera sales.
For some of you this might sound like a joke, but many people are attracted by a four-door coupe… But not a Ferrari, you’d say! True, but when we first heard about a possible four-door coupe from Porsche, we had the same reaction. After we saw the car we began to like the idea of a sport car but with an extra set of doors. We do like the Aston Martin Rapide and we’d like to see a production version of the Lamborghini Estoque.
Later this month, we’ll see the 2012 Mercedes-Benz CLS, which will make its world debut at the 2010 Paris Motor Show. For those who don’t know, Mercedes-Benz was the manufacturer who opened this segment with the first generation of the CLS, which made quite a buzz on the market.
Mercedes-Benz was followed by Porsche, which took the four-door coupe to another level with the introduction of the Panamera. Regarding a Ferrari four-door coupe, sources confirm the fact that this new car could be based on the successor of the 612 Scaglietti, scheduled to make its debut in 2012. This means that the car could also receive a hybrid version, because the replacement of the 612 Scaglietti is rumored to receive a hybrid powertrain. [via Caradisiac]
