Rumor: Frankfurt Motor Show to see the new Lexus compact hatchback

Set to make its official debut next month at the 2009 Frankfurt Auto Show is the all-new Lexus compact hatchback. Created to go up against the Audi A3 and BMW 1-Series, the new small Lexus will use a front-wheel-drive Toyota Corolla chassis, powered by four-cylinder engines. Included in Lexus' plans is a top-of-the-line model that will use the same 187-horsepower, 2.4-liter hybrid drivetrain found in the new Lexus HS 250h. Reports of the unveiling of a production version of the concept at the 2010 Geneva Auto Show have been circulating, sales of which are expected to start shortly thereafter. Although these rumors are unconfirmed, it has been stated that the possibility of it coming to the US are slim. [via insideline]
