Rumor: Kia Rondo might not return for the 2011 model year

There won't be a 2011 Kia Rondo. Kia's US website hinted at this when an inquiry was made about the Rondo. The message goes: "Thank you for inquiring about the Rondo. As the saying goes, 'all good things must come to an end.' But with endings, come new beginnings..." It shouldn't be a surprise though since Rondo was Kia's third slowest seller (coming behind the full-size Borrego SUV and the faux-luxe Amanti sedan). Kia officials wouldn't exactly confirm that the Rondo is a goner as they released a statement that Kia has yet to decide on a 2011 model but that the 2010 model is still being sold in dealerships. Sales figures in 2009 show that the Rondo sold 14,206 units -- less than half of the 28,645 units sold in 2008. Consumers who are considering a Rondo are being pointed to its new-for-2011 Sportage cute ute, which has a large storage space but isn't as family friendly as the seven-passenger Rondo.
