The new Lamborghini Jota is set to replace the Murcielago next year but even as enthusiasts are all keyed up about it, there are reports of a Lamborghini Urus arriving anytime soon. Lamborghini hasn't been this exciting for a long time. It has had evolutions of the Gallardo into the LP560 and the Murcielago in to the LP640. Cars like the Reventon Coupe and Reventon Roadster gather much hype but are really just versions of a standard car.Meanwhile, the LP670-4 SV, a Limited Edition Murcielago, offers more performance for a fraction of the price of the Reventon.
On the other hand, the Jota gets a carbonfiber chassis with carbonfiber and aluminum body. While it will be longer than the Murci, it certainly won't be wider. The Jota also gets an all-new 6.0-liter V12 with direct injection that gives the car over 700bhp. Now sources say that the Urus is coming. Lamborghini is reportedly planning to make the Urus compete against Ferrari's replacement of the Enzo -- more likely the FX70.
The Urus will be based on a modified Jota chassis and will have every component re-worked to make it as light and dynamic as possible. It will feature a full carbonfiber body and have active aerodynamics. The re-worked Jota V12 is expected to get very close to 800bhp, which will give the Urus a sub 3.0 second 0-60mph, in other words, it will be in Veyron territory. [via carsuk]
