Rumor: Next-generation Toyota Prius to be revealed next year

2010 Toyota Prius

According to Japan's Best Car magazine, it appears that Toyota is currently working hard on the next-generation Prius and is preparing to reveal it to the world next year. Unfortunately, there are no details leaked regarding the new models, but we expect it to be more fuel efficient than the current generation and capable to deliver a better range when powered by its electric motors. For those who don´t know, the current generation Toyota Prius is powered by a 1.8-liter Atkinson-cycle 4 cylinder engine in combination with Toyota's latest Synergy Drive hybrid system. The gasoline engine delivers 98hp and 105lb-ft or torque while top performance for the electric motor is 80 hp and 153lb-ft of torque sufficient. Enough we´d say to push the car from 0 to 60 mph in just 9.8 seconds.
