According to the latest reports, Nissan is currently working on the hybrid power system for larger high performance cars which will be introduced on the new Fuga Sedan a.k.a. Infiniti M35/M45 in 2010. But the big surprise is that the Japanese manufacturer is planning to use this system for a hybrid version of the brand new Nissan 370Z, which means that the 370Z will be the first high performance hybrid sports car found on the market, but for this we have to wait 2 years. It seems that the hybrid version will carry the same 3.7-liter engine but also an electric motor. The batteries used by this motor, will be manufactured by NEC, because the electronics giant has twice the energy density of conventional batteries. The hybrid 370Z will deliver a fuel consumption of 35 mpg in mixed cycle use, a good number if we compare it to the 23 mpg obtained by the current version.
