Rumor: Nissan GT-R Egoist to replace Spec M version

2012 Nissan GT-R

It’s not a secret anymore that Nissan is working on the GT-R Spec M, a more luxurious version of its popular sports car. What you didn’t know, until now, is that the new version of the GT-R is rumored to be called ‘Egoist’, inspired by both the Chanel perfume and the apparel maker of the same name.

Honestly to tell you we don’t like that perfume, but we will love the car. “Yes, there’s a bit of tongue in cheek in the name, and yes, the word does mean self-conceited, but we just wanted to have some fun with the name,” said a Nissan spokesman.

The new car is set to make its debut in Japan on October 13 and will carry a price tag of around $166,000. It is believed that the car will also incorporate the new design with revised grille and bumper, front intake duct as well as integrated daytime running LEDs.

Also, the car will get larger brake disks (up from 360 to 290 mm), new 10-spoke alloy wheels, new Recaro seats as well as more power and torque. Sources confirm the fact that the gear ratios will also be tweaked as well as the spring rates and rear suspension geometry. [via autocar]
