Expect the Lada name to be visible in Formula One this upcoming season as it is set to sponsor the Renault F1 team. These two companies aren´t really strangers to each other. Renault has a 25% stake in Lada's parent firm AvtoVaz, a Russian carmaker with state involvement. This sponsorship deal with Renault is expected to promote F1 in Russia. No less than Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin is endorsing the deal. It was reported last week that Renault F1 officials had met with AvtoVaz in Moscow. For this year, Renault has tapped Russian Vitaly Petrov to race for the team. Incidentally, there are plans for a grand prix to be held again in Moscow. Renault F1 boss Gerard Lopez said that he takes pride in announcing the deal, marking yet another important step for the Renault F1 team and Formula 1 in Russia.
