Saab dealers confused about company’s fate

General Motors Co. is actively negotiating the sale of Saab, its Swedish premium brand, but Saab dealers in the US say that they have merely served as uninformed bystanders. Chris Cerrina, co-owner of Parkfield Saab in Rochelle Park, N.J., and a member of the Saab National Dealer Council, expressed his uncertainly about the significance of GM's decision to restart some Saab production. Cerrina talked about being in "this kind of purgatory" while waiting for a decision. A Reuters report confirmed GM's extension of the Dec. 31 deadline that had been set for bids for Saab. Among the many bidders that Saab has reportedly attracted is Dutch luxury carmaker Spyker Cars. [via autonews]
