To drum up sales, Saab Cars North America is dropping prices for its 2010 9-3s by 4% to 12%. Saab, which is now owned by Spyker Cars NV, launches its redesigned 9-5 sedan this summer.
The 9-3s are expected to arrive this month at 218 US dealers after a delivery hiatus of six months. From $31,135 for the 2009 version, the base model 2010 9-3 sport sedan is now priced from $29,725, including delivery. Meanwhile, the base price for the 9-3 SportCombi wagon dropped to $31,155 from $32,565 in the 2009 model year. The 2009 9-3 convertible is priced from $42,905, while its 2010 base price is $40,815. The new 9-3X crossover starts at $37,800. In a statement, COO Mike Colleran said that these price reductions put Saab pricing more in line with its rivals. For example, the base 2010 Volvo S40 is priced from $27,050, including shipping. Saab is also giving current owners or lessees $1,000 off a new 2009 or 2010. This new deal is actually on top of incentives launched in late February, ranging from $4,000 to $8,000 off 2008 and 2009 models.
