Saab takeover in doubt

Unconfirmed reports during the weekend reveal that investors had pulled out of a deal for Koenigsegg to takeover Saab from General Motors. Last June, Koenigsegg, with the support of investors from Sweden and North America, agreed to buy Saab. When questioned, the Sweden government said that it has indeed received the worrisome news but that it is still looking into it. Joran Hagglund, state secretary for Sweden's industry ministry, said that he has yet to confirm it with Koenigsegg and that he is "chasing" them for this information. He said that he was previously not aware of any issues that could have stopped the deal from going through. Koenigsegg's spokesman said that while the company has no comment on the rumor, it can be said that negotiations with GM are proceeding according to plan. [via autocar]
