Saleen plans to stop building cars by the end of 2011! Changing name is imminent!

It is a bad news for the fans of the Saleen Performance Vehicles, as the manufacturer announced today that it will stop producing vehicles under the Saleen name. Apparently, the main reason is the confusion between Steve Saleen’s SMS Supercars brand. Still, Revstone Industries, the parent company of Saleen Performance Vehicles said that it will continue to produce aftermarket parts under the Saleen Speedlab brand and will still honor warranties for all the vehicles found on the road today.
Anyway, you don’t have to be sad, as Saleen representative said that Revstone Industries will continue to produce high-performance Ford Mustangs but it will choose another name, which will be announced at a later date.
Here is what Revstone had to say: “Through our conversations with Ford Motor Company and one another, we have come to feel that those things have become overshadowed by questions surrounding the name. So we want to wipe the slate clean, and usher in a new era of American Muscle. We are confident that, in time, you will agree this was the right decision.” [via autoblog]
