Saleen’s SMS Limited reveals future plans
To make greater impact, the American performance laboratory Saleen made public early last year its intention to establish its latest brand the SMS Limited and then came up with a striking mid-engined supercar concept simultaneous to its opening. The global economic downturn however ended plans for manufacture of the concept which forced SMS to seek other alternatives upon which to place its label.
SMS found its alternative in a new lineup of modified muscle cars which are patterned after the 2009 Dodge Challenger, 2010 Ford Mustang and the forthcoming 2010 Chevrolet Camaro. Currently, the Anaheim-based SMS is making the first of its latest improved muscle cars – the Dodge Challenger 570 Series which can produce in excess of 570 hp (373 kW) from a totally modified 5.7-liter V8 and costs around $60,000 and also offers a 700 hp (522 kW) variant that costs $70,000. Also in the works is the latest 460 Mustang pack patterned on the current 2010 Ford Mustang which, according to reports, will come with a patented SMS Red Butterfly Induction engine cover over its V8 unit. A Chevrolet Camaro will be next in line for SMS modification. Photo gallery after the jump!
