When Saleen, Inc. lost Steve Saleen in 2007 after he resigned from the company, a new leadership moved in, which sold the majority of its aftermarket business to MJ Acquisitions on February 2, 2009 the following month! However, the new ownership made up its mind to close down Saleen, Inc. after it sold the supercharger, aftermarket and high-performance parts business. This means that all warranties on parts sold by Saleen, Inc. up to February 2, 2009 have been effectively cancelled. However, rather than see the brand he started fade away in such a manner, Steve Saleen has come to the rescue and announced that he will be backing the warranties using his new business, the SMS supercars. Steve Saleen has expressed his sadness at the turn of events, but he did not want to put his loyal former customers in the cold so he is making a bold statement by doing this even when his new company SMS supercars has no legal or moral obligation to take up any of the warranty claims against Saleen Inc. or MJ Acquisitions, Inc. Such is not a common thing to do nowadays, but Steve Saleen says that customers must deserve a better treatment than this.

So, any Saleen buyer in the U.S. who bought a product up until February 2 of this year can contact Steve Saleen through SMS Supercars and their claims will be treated as if it were SMS Supercars warranties. Although this seems to make no business sense to most, it speaks a lot about Steve Saleen and how he does business, and some are seeing this as earning future dividends for SMS Supercars.
