Sauber C29 F1 MonopostThe third team to unveil its new car for the 2010 Formula One race is BMW Sauber, which paraded its challenger at the Ricardo Tormo Circuit in Valencia. The car keeps the BMW name in its official team designation but the C29 will actually be the Swiss outfit‚ first ever car powered by a Ferrari engine.¬†Sauber‚ new car stands out due to the shark fin engine cover, which resembles what McLaren Mercedes showed on their MP4-25 at the course last Friday. Compared to the last season‚ car, the 2010 single-seater seems to have also borrowed the nose design from Red Bull‚ RB5. Continued after the jump! Team owner Peter Sauber said that technical preparation of the 2010 car has not been interrupted and has proceeded according to plan since the spring of 2009. He said that the team has a ‚Äúlong tradition of bringing together an up-and-coming youngster and an experienced campaigner as a driver combination.‚Äù He regards this to be an approach that has brought a lot of success. Technical director Willy Rampf said that the development of the BMW Sauber C29 has seen the team build on the experience gained last year and the improvement in performance over the final third of the season. Nonetheless, Rampf said that significant changes were made to the car‚ design due to the new regulations banning refueling during the race and stipulating a reduced width for the front tires.
