2010 Vw Touareg

Hungry for news about the new Volkswagen models of this vehicle. The pictures are lifted from a scale model catalogue in the Netherlands. Here we can see that the car has a more rounded, sleek look than the current Touareg, with styling cues from the new Golf, Polo and Scirocco including long, slim headlights. The new Touareg has the same platform as the Porsche Cayenne and it is believed to be significantly lighter as the company seeks to debunk claims that large 4x4s are too inefficient for modern day use.A target to reduce weight by about 150-300kg has been mooted, although the higher target may be only achievable on base models, which will be offered with only two-wheel drive. The lightest current Touareg, the 3.6-liter petrol V6-powered SE, weighs 2238kg. Offered as an option is a third row of seats. This was done to prove to critics how practical the car is. This decision is likely to lead to the car having slightly longer wheelbase; the current model is 4754mm long. Engines are expected to include updated versions of the current 3.6-liter V6 and 4.2-liter V8 petrol units, plus at least two revised turbodiesel offerings. Expect to see a hybrid VW Touareg at the launch too. It will use the supercharged 3.0-liter V6 currently used in the Audi S4 and A6, with the electric motor sitting between the transmission and the V6. Don´t bother checking for the top-end V10 diesel; it is expected to be dropped.
