Scion iQ small car coming in the fall of 2010

Scion IQ Concept

Instead of arriving in late 2010 or early 2011, Autoweek is saying that Toyota's iQ -badged as a Scion will appear in a major Scion dealership this September or October. The dealership declined to be named. This news, if true, would mean that the car will have a 2011 designation. It had been speculated that the replacement for the tC coupe was the next Scion to be released on the market but this update negates that.

With a 57.8% drop, it cannot be denied that the Scion brand was hit harder than most by the global financial crisis. Apparently, Toyota believes the 66 mpg iQ will be just what the brand needs to improve its lineup. At the iQ's debut in Scion drag at the New York Auto Show, Scion vice-president Jack Hollis said that "the interest was so high that it would be silly for us not to fight for [the iQ], but the next-generation tC is our top priority now." The next-generation tC, with more aggressive styling and a 2.7-liter four-cylinder engine with 200 horsepower, is rumored to arrive in mid-to-late 2010.
