Scion has initiated a special program named “First 86” that seeks to give 86 people their dream to be the first to drive their own Scion FR-S. These cars will be delivered to them before they’re offered to the general public. Beginning noon EST on January 12, fans of the FR-S will have 8 hours and 6 minutes for their request to be submitted at http://www.ScionFirst86.com Scion. said that the 2013 FR-S would be the first car to get a connected infotainment audio system named BeSpoke, which is equipped with Pioneer’s Zypr. A higher level of connectivity is what drivers get from Scion’s BeSpoke.
Among its amazing features are various personalized content and services. Jack Hollis, Vice President Scion, said that starting last year, Bluetooth Hands-Free and HD Radio™ Technology was offered as standard on all Scion models. He added that with Scion’s new BeSpoke system, owners become more connected as in-car technology is brought to the next level.
Scion had wanted to make an authentic rear-wheel-drive sports car with extraordinarily balanced performance and handling, stunning style, flexible utility and astonishing MPG and that’s what led to the creation of the FR-S (Front-engine, Rear-wheel drive, Sport). Toyota and Subaru worked together on the FR-S’s 2.0-liter, naturally aspirated four-cylinder engine. The collaboration started by mixing Subaru’s newly developed horizontally opposed engine and Toyota’s highly advanced D-4S injection system, which combines direct and port injection. Partnering the D-4S system with a high 12.5:1 compression ratio resulted to an output of 200hp and 151 pound-feet of torque.
