Sears to expand its Auto Center network by recruiting former car dealers

Chevrolet DealerAuto dealers who had lost their GM or Chrysler franchises are being invited to operate as licensed Sears Auto Centers. Retail giant Sears Holdings Corp. has launched the Independent Sears Auto Center franchise program that aims to expand its Sears Auto Center network. In a statement, Sears revealed that its program intends to assists dealers to leverage their facilities by “building a set of businesses around parts and services, over-the-counter merchandise, and previously-owned vehicle sales.” Expect to get the same products and services from these franchises as from the nearly 850 company-owned Sears Auto Centers in the country. Continued after the jump! Some of the Sears Auto Center franchise locations will be on properties adjacent to pre-owned vehicle and body shop operations. In a statement, Bill Jackson, president of Sears Authorized Independent Auto Centers LLC, described this program to be a great opportunity for dealers who sell used cars to be identified with a brand that is recognized nationwide due to its quality and dependability. With Sears, these dealers have a resource for buying high-quality auto parts and supplies, and access to a proven business model that matches their needs. On March 27, the first car dealership to participate in this program, will open.
