Seat Leon Twin Drive Ecomotive Concept revealed

Seat Leon Twin Drive Ecomotive

The Leon Twin Drive Ecomotive hybrid concept by Seat was revealed at the firm's Martorell Research and Development facility near Barcelona, Spain. This hybrid concept will be the foundation of a production vehicle that might see the light of day in 2014. Production models of the Twin Drive hybrid will have a pure-electric driving capability in urban areas with an internal combustion engine (most probably diesel-powered) for longer journeys.

Currently powered by the popular lithium-ion batteries, the Leon Twin Drive concept demonstrates the direction Seat will take in the future concerning eco-friendly vehicle models. With the prospect of the total phasing out of gas-powered engines in the future, Ecomotive models are right on target. There is a likelihood that Seat developed future hybrid or alternative fuel technology will in due course find their way into the VW camp.
