The Spanish brand Seat has started work on a future vehicle with sustainable electric power which it will present to the Spanish government in a special event at the Seat Technical Center. Patterned after the Seat Leon, this Twin Drive Ecomotive experimental model will run on lithium-ion battery in urban settings while an gasoline-powered engine activates for journeys of longer durations. The vehicle's power is 35 kW (47 hp) and attains an electronically limited maximum speed of 100 km/h. Presently, it has a maximum range of 50 km attained from one full charge of the battery, which Seat acknowledges requires a lot of improvement if the 2014 production deadline is to be successfully met. Seat aims to produce eco-friendly vehicles run totally on electric power.
