The Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) has revealed that SEAT registered a superb sales record of 7,251 new vehicles for the month of March 2011, gaining a market share of 1.98% in the United Kingdom, compared to the 6,386 vehicles recorded in the same month last year. The impressive numbers even come without the support of the Government’s scrappage scheme, which was aiding sales in March 2010.

Last month’s sales record of SEAT was said to be the company’s best March numbers in the UK, as the British market are supportive of the Spanish automaker’s vehicle models. The company has also gained a significant increase of 13.55% in terms of market share, from 1.61% in March 2010 to the 1.98% in the same month this year.

Such increase becomes noteworthy when compared to the March market decrease of almost 8%. SEAT also recorded sales of 10,471 vehicles for the first quarter of 2011 compared to the 9,582 cars for the same period last year. The automaker’s year-to-date market share of 1.88% set an all-time record in the UK.
