Hyundai has partnered with California-based Bisimoto Engineering to build a hatchback that can deliver more than 600-hp. They aim to make a super-hot version of the Elantra GT hatchback. They will be preparing the fortified Elantra GT for the 2012 Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) show. Bisimoto will be able to generate the super car-like hp from the Elantra GT’s 1.8-liter four-cylinder.
But then, the entire engine was rebuilt with a variety of new Bisimoto parts: steel rods, an intake gasket, injectors, web level 2.4 camshafts, and (of course) a turbo kit. Its other upgrades are a Golden Eagle sleeved block and intake manifolds, NGK Iridium spark plugs, a Spearco intercooler, a larger radiator from Griffin, an AEM 320lph fuel pump and water-methanol kit, custom headwork by Portflow, and Kinsler fuel filters.
The stock 2013 Elantra GT produces only 148 hp from its naturally-aspirated 1.8-liter I-4. To manage the extreme power, Bisimoto has upgraded the chassis. It enhanced the full roll cage, coilover suspension, and sway bar. The tuning company also installed an Action 2MS clutch and 18-inch Buddy Club P1 Racing SF Challenge wheels.
Aside from the wheels, the other exterior revisions include an ARK body kit decked out in custom laminated graphic body wrap, hood and aero upgrades, and a Burns Stainless muffler and exhaust hardware. The interior of the Bisimoto Elantra GT is racing-ready with its racing seats with full harnesses, a Racepack IQ3 dash, and an Odyssey ER-25MJ dry cell battery.
The new Hyundai Elantra GT highlights a fluidic essence which offers a slippery .30 coefficient drag. It features an aerodynamic theme from its low overall height and aggressive profile to its sleek side mirrors. Some of its key elements include minimized tire gaps, streamlined rocker panel and low wind resistance which provide for a smoother ride. Up front lays Hyundai’s signature hexagonal grille complemented with chrome accents which flows into the hood.
Its bodysize graphic highlights a beltline molding in chrome to harmonize with the sleek character contours and lines. It features headlamps with sharp projection, fog lights, LED taillights as well as chrome-speared alloy wheels in 17 inches to complete the car’s modern design.
LOW CURB WEIGHT BENEFITS COMPACT CARS
This model uses high-strength steel for optimum suspension and weighs lighter compared to majority of its competitors at 2,908 pounds. It boasts a spatial interior compared to Golf, Mazda 3 and Focus. It is lighter by 194 pounds compared to the Golf and 40 pounds compared to the Focus.
A choice of six-speed manual (M6CF3-1) is also available along with the automatic (A6GF1) transaxle equipped with the SHIFTRONIC manual control. The six-speed manual transmission offers short and crisp shifts and optimizes further the performance of the engine. The crisp shifts come with the triple-cone synchronizers provided for the first as well as the second gears, the double-cone for the third gear and the single-cone for the fourth, fifth as well as the sixth gears.
