Shanghai Motor Show: Citroen C-Quatre

Citroen C-Quatre
A preview of an updated European C4 extended sedan has been provided by Citroen, which stole the show at the recent Shanghai event. The car was formerly known as the C-Triomphe in China since the latter part of 2006, but the designation was changed to C-Quatre with the Chinese release of the modified C4 hatch in August of 2008. At present the sedan has also received the modification and also wears the C-Quatre designation. The C-Quatre, not like the C5 which has a full boot while maintaining the enlarged cavity offered by a hatchback, is a more typical 3-box, also known as sedan notchback. This appearance is preferred by Chinese consumers the French carmaker has said.
The design of the small 4-door sedan came out of a partnership between the Peugeot-Citroen parent company, PSA Group, and Dongfeng Motor Corp. A remodeled front face which comes with a body-colored front lip and more compartmentalized fog lights, are some changes included in the car. Now the nose looks like its sticking out somewhat more and the door panels receives more definition, especially near the side sills. The center of the car appears to be raised as well, providing a more rounded roofline and more headroom for occupants. Although Chinese superstition looks at the number four as unlucky, the C-Quatre designation does not have this effect.
At this time, it is still uncertain whether the Citroen C-Quatre will be only for the Chinese market exclusively, but the new model will be produced locally and will hit showrooms by June. The European and South American C4 is being produced in Argentina, and whether other markets will be getting the modified look is anybody's guess.
