ŠKODA will introduce the latest Citigo subcompact to the public as a five-door variant for the first time this year at the Geneva Motor Show. Representatives from the media will have a preview of the new ŠKODA in February 2012. This includes engaging in test drives. The five-door variant will be launched in European markets one after another together with the three-door variant beginning in the middle of May this year. The Citigo is ŠKODA's entry into the fast-growing subcompact segment. In late 2011, the new model was successfully launched in the company's home market, the Czech Republic. From this year, the Citigo will tap new customer groups for ŠKODA, contributing to the growth strategy of the brand. The company is targeting an increase in its global deliveries to at least 1.5 million units annually by 2018.
Last year, the company sold 879,200 units, achieving another sales record in its 117-year corporate history. The Citigo is among the roomiest and among the most compact of its segment. In line with the brand's 'Simply Clever' claim, the vehicle showcases a range of clever features like a document and photo holder, a range of net holders and a bag hook on the glove compartment.
The designers of Citigo put great emphasis on safety, enabling the vehicle to win the Euro NCAP crash test's top score of five stars. This new urban vehicle is also the first of ŠKODA models to feature the brand's new logo. A three-cylinder petrol engine runs the Citigo. It comes with one liter of displacement in two variants with 44 kW/60 hp or 55 kW/75 hp. In its most efficient Green tec version, the new Citigo delivers a mileage of 4.1 l/100 km, with only 96 g CO2/km CO2 emissions in the new ŠKODA model. This new vehicle of the ŠKODA family has recently become Best City Car in the Car of the Year 2012 survey, which is the largest poll in the Czech Republic.
