Volkswagen AG's Czech unit, Skoda Auto, recently said that sales rose 12.3 percent in the first 11 months to 702,400 units, compared with 684,200 units in the whole of 2009. Sales rose 15.8 percent to 64,200 units in November 2010 alone, driven by demand in China and Russia. Data from the Association of European Businesses (AEB) indicate that Skoda's volume in Russia increased 43 percent to 3,498 units in November 2010, pushing sales up 38 percent to 41,520 through 11 months. Skoda is the Czech Republic's second-largest company by revenue and its exports comprise about 7 percent of the country's total exports. Car parts and cars are the biggest exports and a key driver of economic growth.
